Elmhurst Wellness Group: 1st Tuesday of Every Month

Dr. Ken Torrens has been a practicing chiropractor since graduating from the National College of Chiropractic in August of 1991. He is licensed and practiced in both Illinois and Arizona. While obtaining his pre-med studies in 1986-87, he also attended the prestigious Swedish Institute of Massage, where his training included Swedish Massage, Medical Massage and Shiatsu (Japanese finger pressure) Therapy. As a master therapist, he taught soft tissue therapy for three years to chiropractic students at National. He also completed the elective degree in Acupuncture and received a special internship in orthopedics focusing on shoulder conditions, prior to graduation from National. Dr. Torrens was a competing wrestler for 12 years and has been practicing yoga since the age of 10.

This background became the foundation for utilizing various forms of movement therapy to help balance and re-coordinate the nervous system. This very unique work not only speeds healing of typical muscle and skeletal problems, but also strongly enhances the performance of both casual and professional athletes. Lastly, Dr. Torrens routinely completes more than 60 hours of continuing study each year in the rapidly expanding field of nutritional medicine, with particular focus on inflammatory, digestive, toxicity and weight management conditions, and foundational nutrient, sports and healthy aging protocols.

ARC Physical Therapy: 3rd Tuesday of Every Month

Annie Dietzen, PT, DPT, MS is a Licensed Physical Therapist, Clinic Manager at ARC Physical Therapy. After sitting down with Annie to discuss the importance of healthy running, this is what she had to say:  "I am very excited to work with Fleet Feet to promote wellness and help prevent injury. I have been practicing physical therapy in Elmhurst for two and a half years, and I am looking forward to becoming more involved in the community.  I think physical therapy is a great profession because I have the opportunity to foster personal relationships that are not very common in healthcare.

I love educating and empowering my patients in order to help them manage their symptoms while working to improve day-to-day function.  When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, as well as running, cooking, reading, and traveling.  I have completed a half marathon and several 5ks and plan to participate in more races during the upcoming season.  I look forward to meeting you and helping you to stay healthy while you train!"
